BABEL MED MUSIC : MARSEILLE ECOUTE LE MONDE ET SA SONO MONDIALE !

Du 26 au 28 mars, BABEL MED MUSIC installe Marseille en capitale de la sono mondiale. Forum professionnel des musiques du monde et sélection de concerts ouverts au grand public, BABEL MED MUSIC s’est imposé depuis 2005 comme l’événement unique de la World-Music.
Pendant trois jours, les acteurs incontournables des musiques du monde (artistes, directeurs de festivals, diffuseurs, maisons de disques, agents, managers, presse…) échangent, découvrent, programment et débattent au cours de rencontres et de conférences sur les problématiques de production et diffusion artistique à l’heure de la mondialisation.
Dans l’espace marché, pendant la journée, les 130 structures représentées sur stands, la salle de conférence, la salle de projection et l’Agora constituent le théâtre de ce rendez-vous majeur pour les 1 500 professionnels présents.
Le soir, le Dock des Suds offre son écrin majestueux aux vibrations des 5 continents avec 30 concerts (10 par soir) proposés aux professionnels et au grand public. La programmation 2008, ciselée par un jury international, présente ainsi une sélection exigeante et homérique. Des découvertes vouées à devenir les talents majeurs des prochaines années sur les ondes et les scènes internationales. Une primeur de choix pour les oreilles curieuses ou averties…
Par-delà les frontières, la musique vivante comme témoin de l’histoire des hommes, universelle et plurielle … Du 26 au 28 mars, bienvenue à Babel !

Cette année encore, un appel à candidature est lancé en direction de tous les groupes de la région, de Méditerranée et du monde.

Les 30 groupes sélectionnés se produiront sur une des scènes du Dock des Suds devant le grand public comme les professionnels participant au marché.
Les artistes désireux de postuler peuvent, dès maintenant, envoyer leurs candidatures. La date limite de dépôt des dossiers est le 24 octobre 2008.
Les candidats devront :

1. Remplir le formulaire d’inscription
2. Joindre également :
2 CDs de l’artiste ou groupe (démo acceptée)
1 dossier de presse (texte de présentation, bio, photo…)
1 fiche technique du spectacle

BABEL MED MUSIC : MARSEILLE LISTENS TO THE SOUNDS OF THE WORLD !

From March 26 to 28, BABEL MED MUSIC makes Marseille the capital of the world sound. As a forum of the world music industry with a selection of concerts open to the general public, BABEL MED MUSIC has established itself as a unique World Music event since 2005.
For three days, the essential players in world music (artists, festival directors, broadcasters, concert organizers, recording companies, agents, managers, Press, etc.) discuss, discover and book artists, and debate in encounters and conferences on issues concerning the production, dissemination and outreach of artistic works in these days of globalisation.
During the day, the market space is the theatre of this major rendez-vous for the 1,500 music industry professionals present and the 130 organisations represented on stands, together with the conference room, the screening room and the Agora.
In the evenings, the Dock des Suds provides its majestic showcase of the five continents, with 30 concerts (10 every evening) open to music industry professionals and to the general public. The 2008 programme of concerts, thoroughly devised by an international panel, presents a high-standard, extensive selection of artists: newly-discovered talents who are destined to become the major artists of the future, on international stages and airwaves. Both the informed and the curious-minded will have the first chance to hear this choice selection …

A call with candidature is launched in direction of all the groups of the area, the Mediterranean and the world.

This year we have once again set up a call for nominations for all artists performing World Music.

The 30 selected groups will perform a showcase on one of the stages of the Dock des Suds, in Marseille, in front of hundreds of professionals from the music scene around the world, and in front of a large public.
Any artists wishing to be considered by the selection committee can complete the application form NOW !!
PLEASE NOTE : the closing date for all applications is 24th October 2008
All candidates should:

1. Download and complete the application form from the Babel Med Music website
2. Send the application form to the Dock des Suds, with the following:
- 2 copies of artist’s/group’s CD (demo accepted)
- 1 press book (information about artist/group, biography, photos…)
- 1 copy of technical requirements
